I started these post to shine light on the local scene here in lexington this is the 4th installment.

Miss Cass came strolling into Sami’ s several years back with a guy “who shall remain nameless” mainly cause i dont remember his name. upon talking to her Sami and I find Out that they were forced to move here from New Orleans due to Katrina. upon talking a little more i find out that she lost her entire Record Collection, including a Prince Black Album, which all my record heads know is not easy to come by. over the Past couple of years, Cass has Held down Wrfl 88.1 and has a hand in bringing numerous hip hop acts to this town. As a “local” i can attest to lack of culture for hip hop in this city over the past decade and a half, so any show we get is something to be cherished. here recently there has been an influx of better shows and it has spoiled us a little. I believe Miss Cass has played a serious role in this increase. teaming up with Devine Carama for the Brown Sugar Series, Djing For Loose Change, Introducing Lexington to LushLife, Bringing acts like Wale, Tanya Morgan and many more, And Holding Down the Coveted 4-6 on friday on WRFL Cass is Definitely Doing her thing.

over the past two years i have been blessed to watch a new crop of talent from lexington start to blossom. its refreshing to see that the younger generation knows the meaning of hard work and hustlin.

Enter D-Eazy, i first met him at the shop and we traded free style back and forth, not really battling but more just vibing off each other, are styles were different but i could clearly see that this kid had serious potential. I have had the oppurtunity to watch eazy go from flossing at the Lower 48 to kicking a lyrical and heart felt set at Al’s bar at the very first brown sugar.

this is a new segment i plan on doing on a routine basis, i actually started last year with a review of the Nemo release “Vibrations”

On a recent trip to Cd Central i saw that Matt Duncan had released his album entitled “Beacon” its a great piece of work and Matt is capable of writing some beautiful music.

Right now my favorite song is the title track Beacon but that will probally change tomorrow. since the whole project is extremely refreshing from start to finish. click on the pic below to listen to his music
